'No More Candy, Please!' or 'Don't Rain on My Parade'

Well, astronauts, it's been another whirlwind weekend for your favorite SuperFamily. The fun began with a cool and candy-filled parade. The best part is that the parade route is less than half a block away. This parade is known for supplying children with way too much candy provided by overeager parade floats and other displays. Needless to say, the SuperKids hauled off enough candy to last them until the next parade. We had a little bit of rain, but we survived...the Iowagners always survive!

...and the streets were paved with candy.

We were also privileged enough to witness the tradition of the Cardboard Regatta. It is a boat race involving boats made of only cardboard, duct tape and paint. It was fun to watch. We already have plans for an unsinkable stealth boat fabricated from an old refrigerator box once the SuperKids are old enough.

Cardboard and Water...A Good Idea?!

Of course no city festival would be complete without scary, antiquated carnival rides and equally scary carnival ride operators. As an adolescent superhero SuperDad's mom used to threaten to sell him to the 'Carnies' (carnival workers) if he was bad. I guess it worked! Nothing says fun like paying $6 to ride a flying elephant for a couple of minutes. I guess the SuperKids will never know the difference.
